DOAC Adherence May Not Depend on Dosing Frequency

Orlando, Fla.—Patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) are bucking the trend seen in the general patient population: Their adherence to direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) for stroke prevention is not tied to less frequent dosing. According to a retrospective study of almost 40,000 users of DOACs that was presented at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy’s 2018 Nexus meeting (abstract I11), users of twice-daily apixaban had greater
