For Safer ICUs, High- and Low-Tech Fixes Needed

Orlando, Fla.—Avoiding medication errors in the ICU requires a mix of high- and low-tech drug safety tools, experts told attendees of the ASHP 2017 Midyear Clinical Meeting.

Technologies aimed at reducing errors are being widely implemented in the ICU, but they are far from perfect, said Mitchell Buckley, PharmD, a clinical pharmacy specialist in critical care at Banner–University Medical Center Phoenix, who co-authored recent American College of Critical Care Medicine (ACCM)
