Against the backdrop of a dual opioid epidemic and COVID-19 pandemic, institutions have been rolling out telehealth programs to prescribe and dispense naloxone. At one health system, a telehealth-based naloxone program increased dispensing of the lifesaving antidote by 40%.
“It’s become much more difficult for patients who need abuse prevention and treatment programs to participate in them during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said John Beyer, PharmD, a pharmacy
