Marked by the deaths of 37 children so far, the 2017-2018 influenza season has been challenging and intense across the country, according to Dan Jernigan, MD, MPH, the director of the Influenza Division in the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC.
Seven of those pediatric deaths occurred this week alone, Dr. Jernigan added.
