Pan- and echinocandin-resistant strains of Candida auris detected in Texas and Washington, D.C., demonstrate the evolving threat of drug-resistant fungal infections.
According to a CDC report, the findings indicate the first evidence of pan- or echinocandin-resistant C. auris strains being transmitted in U.S. health care settings (MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2021;70[29]:1022-1023).
