Botulinum toxin appears to be an efficacious and safe option for treating chronic pain associated with myofascial trigger points, a retrospective cohort study concluded.

Typically consisting of 0.25% levobupivacaine, ropivacaine or similar anesthetic in combination with a steroid (Methods Find Exp Clin Pharmacol 2007;29[5]:353-357; J Pain Palliat Care Pharmacother 2016;30[4]:269-275), use as a steroidal trigger
