FDA Approves New Epinephrine Choice for Anaphylaxis

The FDA approved a new epinephrine injection (Symjepi, Adamis Pharmaceuticals) for the emergency treatment of serious allergic reactions.

Symjepi consists of 0.3 mg of epinephrine in a prefilled syringe, and is intended for immediate administration to those weighing more than 66 pounds. Due to this weight restriction, Symjepi can only be exchanged for the existing epinephrine injector, EpiPen (Mylan Pharmaceuticals), not EpiPen Jr. (Mylan), for children weighing less than 66
