Emerging Roles for Nutritional Therapies

IBD, epilepsy among disorders that may respond

Austin, Texas—There is mounting evidence for the potential of nutrition therapy to complement medications in alleviating symptoms associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), autism and epilepsy, a panel of experts noted during Clinical Nutrition Week, hosted by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.).

“Patients and families are greatly interested in the role that diet can play in the management of these diseases,” said Dale
