A rapid multiplexed molecular panel led to a significant reduction in the number of total days on antibiotics with no increases in in-hospital mortality, length of stay or readmission, according to study results (P-1761) presented at IDWeek 2024, in Los Angeles.
The BioFire FilmArray Pneumonia (BFP) panel used in the study is a multiplexed nucleic acid–based test that screens for 33 of the most common pathogens associated with lower respiratory tract infections. “It can
