Orlando, Fla.—Antibiotics are one of the major advances of modern medicine and are truly lifesaving drugs, but they also can cause potentially severe adverse drug events (ADEs).
That’s why it’s so important for health-system pharmacists to be vigilant about the causes of antibiotic-related ADEs—and the main strategies for avoiding them, two infectious disease pharmacists noted during sessions at the Making a Difference in Infectious Disease (MAD-ID) 2017 annual meeting.
