Scientists have discovered that the antimalarial medication hydroxychloroquine blocks the transmission of Zika virus (ZIKV) to fetuses.
Researchers from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis were studying the ways in which ZIKV breaches the placenta in mice to better understand the fact that ZIKV has been shown to not only invade but multiply in the placenta. Senior author Indira Mysorekar, PhD, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, and of pathology
