Chicago—Lung cancer patients using a web-based application to monitor their symptoms achieved a large and highly significant improvement in overall survival (OS) when compared with usual care, according to the results of a multicenter, Phase III trial.
The survival benefit, which was attributed to earlier intervention for complications and recurrences, was so great that the trial was halted early and is being deemed practice-changing by at least one leading oncologist.
