Nearly One-Fifth of Cirrhosis Patients Prescribed Opioids at Outpatient Visits

Almost one in five outpatient clinic visits by patients with cirrhosis involve an opioid prescription, according to new research. The investigators also found that most of the physicians who prescribe opioids for patients with cirrhosis are primary care physicians.
