Delirium is common in the ICU, affecting about half of critically ill patients. The condition is known to be associated with poor outcomes, including seven extra days in the ICU, on average (Gen Hosp Psychiatry 2013;35[2]:105-111), as well as increased stress for providers, patients and their families. But just how to accurately identify, prevent and manage the problem continues to leave even top pharmacy experts “dazed and confused,” according to presenters at the 2016 ASHP
