Mixed Results Found on Antidepressant Use in Pregnancy

Three recent studies provided mixed answers to the question about safe use of antidepressants during pregnancy. A U.S. study found no increased risk for autism or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) from antidepressant use during pregnancy and a Canadian study found an increased risk for autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), while a third study found an increased risk for birth defects from using paroxetine.
